Fact: Nearly half of California children eat fast food on any given day
Dick Beahrs had a 35-year career as a media executive with Time Warner and Sports Illustrated. During that time, he served as the President of Court TV and the Comedy Channel which evolved into Comedy Central. In 2001 he and his wife Carolyn funded the launch of the Beahrs Environmental Leadership Program at UC Berkeley. This multidisciplinary program has trained hundreds of environmental professionals from over 70 countries in sustainable development skills. Beahrs recently served on the UN Hunger Task Force as part of the Millennium Development Goals Initiative. He is currently focused on efforts to enhance school feeding programs with locally produced foods on the African continent. He serves as a trustee for the University of California (Berkeley) Foundation as well as on the Advisory Boards of numerous University initiatives and programs. He also serves on the Leadership Council of the Initiative for Global Development. His current business activities include the Chairmanship of the San Jose Giants (a minor league affiliate of the San Francisco Giants).
John Mitchell is Culinary Advisor and Research Development Consultant for the natural foods industry. He is committed to the development, distribution and innovative retailing of organically produced products. Before striking out on his own, John was the Director of Operations/Food Service for Whole Foods Market. John spent over nine years growing stores throughout California, the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Prior to joining Whole Foods Market in 1997, John spent seven years as a Chef for several restaurants within the San Francisco based Lark Creek Restaurant Group including Lark Creek Inn, One Market Restaurant, and Lark Creek Walnut Creek. John began his career at Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and remains an active alumnus.

Jonathan Klein was a member of the founding team that developed the Revolution Foods concept and business model. Jonathan has experience in teaching, educational leadership, entrepreneurial ventures, and nonprofit organizations. He served as Teach For America's Bay Area Executive Director from 1999 to 2003 and was the founding Executive Director of the Oakland Small Schools Foundation. From 2006 to 2008, Jonathan was Special Assistant to the State Administrators in the Oakland Unified School District. Jonathan currently serves as Chief Program Officer with the Rogers Family Foundation where he is responsible for investment strategy, partnership development, and community organizing to increase educational opportunity and student achievement in the City of Oakland.

Curtiss Stancil is currently Vice President, Development for EdisonLearning, the leading provider of Achievement Solution Programs for Charter and Public K-12 School Districts in the United States. Prior to EdisonLearning, Curtiss served as Vice President of Emerging Markets for Sodexho USA (now Sodexo), where he was responsible for sales, marketing, operations and business development for historically black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving universities and large urban K-12 public school district accounts. In addition, Curtiss has held executive level jobs at leading corporations such as Proctor & Gamble, L’Oreal, Gibson Greetings, and Carson Products. Curtiss has been recognized for his leadership in his area’s African American community with the "Emerging Leader Award" from Applause! Magazine in 1996 and his research on marketing to African-American consumers have been featured in publications including Jet magazine. Curtiss is based in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Gail Woodward-Lopez, MPH, RD, is Associate Director of the Center for Weight and Health at UC Berkeley and author of Obesity: Dietary and Developmental Influences. She is a member of the evaluation team for the California Endowment's Healthy Eating, Active Communities Initiative. The focus of her current work is the evaluation of school and community based programs to prevent overweight among children and youth.
